POINTS TO PONDER
Issue 05-12
From CSFC President Helen Zajac
CATEGORY: Federation September 5, 2005
Subject: CSFC Web Site
The California State Federation of Chapters (CSFC) has developed, maintained and updated a Web Site (www.csfcnarfe.org) for the use of the members of CSFC. The Web Site, in some cases, takes the place of a CSFC Newsletter, which this President so dearly would like to provide to all members, however, due to budget constraints cannot.
The only other ways to get information to as many of the CSFC members as possible is through the NARFE-NET (which currently consists of less than 10 percent of our CSFC members) and the Web Site.
NOTE: If you know of any member who would like to become part of the NARFE-NET, and receive pertinent information from CSFC, PLEASE have them contact our NARFE-NET Coordinator, Carl Bailey, at narfenet@verizon.net. He will gladly add them to the distribution list for CSFC information as well as the National Global Electronic Message System (GEMS), so they will also receive the Legislative Hot Line, Legislative Alerts and Press Releases from our National Office.
CSFC is very fortunate to have a VOLUNTEER who developed and maintains the CSFC Web Site, our own Federation Treasurer, Werner Gumpert – (THANK YOU WERNER!). The style he has used in developing this Site is hierarchical, with an up-to-date site map, rather than a linear style in which you must scroll through page after page to find the information you need.
When you go to the Web Site, you find the contact information for the CSFC Secretary, Vivian Nathanson. Following the contact information is NARFE’s Mission Statement, which is taken from the National Bylaws. There is also an indication of the date that the last update was made to the Web Site, followed by the contact information for the Webmaster. The large block at the bottom of the first page identifies the categories of information available on the Web Site.
The first block is “Home” which allows you:
To link to the National Web Site (www.narfe.org).
To link via e-mail to the Webmaster to ask a question relating to NARFE matters. Depending on the question, the Webmaster will refer it to the appropriate member of CSFC for response. Then both the question and answer will be placed on the Website under “Publications” for all members to benefit from the question and the response.
The next block is “What’s New”:
This gives you the update of the most recent (last 90 days) items added to the Web Site.
Third block is “Officers":
This gives you a link to the various CSFC state wide officers, as well as a picture of the officers, that was taken at the Installation ceremony in June 2005.
