Subject:  Life Membership and Honorary Life Membership

There are two categories of Life Membership in NARFE; one based on an actuarial table and one based on age and length of membership. 

LIFE MEMBERSHIP:

Life Membership is available to all members, at any time.  The purchase of the life membership is based on actuarial tables based on age and will allow the member to pay national dues in advance for their entire life. This payment may be made in one single payment or in quarterly installments.  There is an application form (F-53, National Life Membership) available from Headquarters, either by downloading from the web site (www.narfe.org) or by ordering directly on the F-18, Requisition for Printed Supplies.

Fees for National Life Membership (July 2004) are as follows:
 
 Age      30-39                          $1,320.00
              40-50                           1,015.00
              51-55                             783.00
              56-60                             664.00
              61-65                             557.00
              66-70                             452.00
              71-75                             373.00
              76-80                             292.00
              81-90                             197.00
              91-100                            107.00
 
NOTE:  If you choose to pay your national dues in advance with this Life 
Membership you are still responsible to pay chapter dues each year to your local 
chapter, unless they have established a lifetime chapter dues membership which you 
would pay directly to the chapter.  If you do not pay chapter dues, you will be listed 
on the Semi Annual Membership Roster, M114, as “National Life Members 
(Non Voting)”, and you will not be allowed to attend a Federation or National 
Convention as a delegate, vote, or hold an office. 
 
For Life Members, chapter dues may be paid up to five years in advance, rather than 
receiving a chapter dues renewal notice each year.
 
HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP
 
Honorary Life Membership is a privilege bestowed on our members who have 
achieved the age of 85 years and have been a NARFE member for 20 years.
 
The Chapter President or Secretary must sign the Honorary Membership Certification
(Form F-87, Honorary Life Membership), attesting that the above requirements have 
been met and submit it to the National Office.  This is available from Headquarters, 
either by downloading from the web site (www.narfe.org) or by ordering directly on the 
form (F-18, Requisition for Printed Supplies).
 
The recipient no longer pays national dues but is responsible for payment of chapter 
dues, unless the chapter waives its dues for Honorary Life Members.  This decision 
is made by each chapter.
