POINTS TO PONDER
Issue 01-06
from your Federation President
NARFE Members of California:
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Some members still believe that a Federal
Employee must have 5 years of employment before being eligible to join NARFE.
NOT SO! This prerequisite was changed a few years ago. Any federal worker is
eligible to join NARFE regardless of his/her length of employment. There is no
minimum length of employment time!
To reiterate what is stated in up-to-date NARFE literature, membership
eligibility is for any person who is or will be eligible to receive a federal or
survivor annuity which includes the following:
a. Current federal employees
b. Retired federal employees
c. Spouses of current and retired federal employees
d. Former federal employees, including individuals on disability and their spouses
e. Survivors of deceased federal employees (survivor annuitants)
f. Members of the U.S. House and Senate and their staffs
g. Former spouses who are legally eligible for an annuity.
Till next time ...
